Imagine giving thirteen long years of your life to someone you thought loved you, only to be rejected in the worst possible way in the end. For one pup named D. O. G, 13 years wasn’t enough to spare him the treatment his heartless family left him to endure.
After they decided to move away from town to a new home, they packed up their belongings, placed them in a truck, and left D.O.G all alone in the vacant home to fend for himself. D.O.G who was as confused as he was devastated, languished in the home for almost up to a week, until a neighbor heard his cries, and called animal control who eventually placed him at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California.
D.O.G, upon his initial entry, was upbeat in the beginning, and happy, that he was at least getting attention and the cure to his loneliness. However, as critical hours turned into days, he soon began to realize that he had another challenge to contend with: his survival.
That’s because, at Carson, dogs and cats who do not find forever families within weeks, and sometimes even days face the constant threat of euthanization. After so many shelter patrons passed him by, D.O.G, the once jovial pup who greeted visitors with a paw, is just too sad to lift up his head anymore.
A Petharbor listing for D.O.G reads,
“My name is D. O. G and I am described as a male, white and tan Pit Bull Terrier mix. The shelter thinks I am about 13 years old.”
