If there was ever a heartbreaking story of neglect, this has to be it. Cookie was brought to the San Bernardino City Shelter on December 30 by her family. She watched, and witnessed the family walk out, after they selected a younger, labrador retriever to call their own.
Shelter staff saw the look on her face as she cried and whimpered, as her former family betrayed her in the most stunning, and hurtful manner.
Cookie, a 15 year old Cocker Spaniel, was tossed away like she was an old pair of shoes. A member of the San Bernardino City Shelter said:
“Cookie is crying for her family. She watched as the family drove away and left her to die.“
Cookies shelter ID#A489703. Her Pet Harbor listing reads: “I am an unaltered female, red and buff Cocker Spaniel. Shelter staff think I am about 15 years old. I have been at the shelter since Dec 30, 2015.”
