For 15-year-old Charlie, life at the high-kill Carson Animal Shelter has been a struggle to adjust to, and that is quite understandable. The gritty, overcrowded shelter, notorious for their kill rate, is not a place where one should pin their hopes and dreams to say and write the least.
Charlie, who gave his owner nothing but love, loyalty, and devotion over a five-year period, was betrayed by an owner who said he simply didn’t want the responsibility of caring for him anymore. According to Carson Shelter Advocacy group Saving Carson Shelter Dogs, they wrote about Charlies misfortune on Facebook saying,
“My former family who owned me for more than 5 years had to give me up because they just weren’t up for the responsibility of a pet. “
At 15 years of age, Charlie should be enjoying his golden years with all the love, care and devotion he deserves. Instead, he makes a cold concrete slab the only solace for the tears that flow in the night. Sad indeed.
Fidonation, if you or someone you know is interested in giving Charlie the forever family he deserves, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at (310) 523-9566, and reference the shelter ID #A5052853.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Charlie a forever family. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
