As a seasoned rescuer, I spend my dies fighting for animals, without a voice. One of my mentors, who is a veteran of rescues himself once told me that when it comes to giving a voice to the voiceless, the work is plenty, but the workers are few. Fidonation, we are truly a special bunch and you must be commended for that.
I first came across the case of Sweetie, a 9-year-old German Shepherd, and it is quite the heartbreaker. Sweetie, who is enduring a near complete kennel run at the high kill Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) in Mesa, Arizona, is exactly what her name implies.
Her owners didn’t want her after they discovered she was sick, and so one day, they rounded up all her possessions, and unceremoniously dumped her at the MCACC, knowing full well the ramifications such a decision might have on the life of the poor pup.
Sweetie, who after 9 years of love, loyalty and devotion was shocked by the stunning betrayal, has become so depressed and sad, that she seldom lifts her head to greet shelter patrons anymore. Amidst the chaos noise and confusion of shelter life, Sweetie hides her tears and sorrow on a cold plastic cot, the only solace from the pain and rejection she feels each day. Sad indeed.
Fidonation, if you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the MCACC at 602-506-(PETS) and reference the shelter ID #A3965993.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter, so we are closer to finding Sweetie a home. We have done it before and can certainly do it again.
