Hazel and Koda never imagined in their 5 years plans that they would wind up at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California. The two sisters, who share an unshakable bond of unity, are struggling to make sense of their new life, a shelter notorious for its high kill rate.

Unfortunately for both, their owner didn’t want them anymore because she couldn’t “deal with the stress of having pets.” And so one day, she gathered both Hazel and Koda’s belongings, and drove them to the Carson Animal Shelter, knowing very well the ramifications such a decision might have on their lives.

Hazel, the older of the two, can be seen watching over the younger Koda, keeping her safe from the other dogs, that try and scare her away. When the night falls, and it’s lights out at the shelter, Hazel and Koda could be seen huddled in an embrace, keeping each other strong, from a cold night, and an unknown fate. Sad indeed.

Fidonation, if you or someone you know is interested in giving Hazel (#A5053358), and Koda (#A5053361), a forever family, please contact the Carson Animal Shelter at 310.523.9566 and reference both shelter ID numbers.

Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding these two a home. We have done it before, and can certainly do it again.
