Discrimination on any level is the cancer of society. Thankfully, in the progressive, globalized world we live in, we the people have worked hard to put laws in place, to prevent discrimination, from disqualifying people from jobs, housing, and marriage.
Unfortunately, these rights do not extend to pets. According to statistics, dogs with a darker coat are more likely to be put down, then their blonde and lighter coat counterparts. Case and point is a dog named Anita.
Anita is presently enduring a kennel run at the Carson Animal Shelter in Gardena, California, where her life is quite literally on the line. The 1-year-old Anita was neglected by her former owner, who wasn’t interested in caring for her anymore. And so he surrendered the poor pup to Carson, hoping that she might become someone else’s “problem” according to an anonymous source present during the intake.
Anita, who is sweet, kind and loving is routinely passed up for adoption, and my source can only think of one reason why: the color of her coat.
Fidonation, Anita deserves more than to sit in a kennel and cry herself to sleep. If you or someone you know is interested in giving this precious pup the forever family she rightfully deserves, please contact the Los Angeles County Animal Control – Carson at (310) 523-9566.
Additionally, please share this story on Facebook or Twitter so we are closer to finding Anita a home.💕❤
